I must admit that I am a little late in noticing Ben Witherington’s very insightful and humorous posting from various church signs. I found this one the best:

It reads: “Staying in bed shouting, ‘Oh God!’ does not constitute going to church.”

I am doing work on the concept of the ‘antichrist’ in the New Testament.  I ran into a book today at Half Price Books in Austin (where I now live), I found an interesting book on Jews in the Greco-Roman world.  One chapter in the book is actually on the subject of the antichrist.  The [...]

I have enjoyed reading the excellent blog of Kevin James Bywater’s.  His blog is entitled By Living Waters.  He is a doctoral candidate at Durham University and a lecturer for Summit Ministries.  His blog contains many good and important links to biblical and evangelical sites.  I would check it out (especially his audio links).

I found a website that contains The Story of Jesus.  It is a helpful site to guide someone to a faith-understanding of the Gospel of John and the life of Jesus.  It is well done and part of a larger framework of biblical training.  Here is the site (click here).

I just got back from my Summer Colloquy, Intersections of Faith and Science. It was an interesting discussion led by three very capable presenters: (1) Dr. John Weaver, Principal and Senior Lecturer at South Wales Baptist College in Cardiff, Wales who is a geologist and theologian; (2) Dr. Dorothy Chappell, Dean of Natural and [...]

Having begun a new series on Sunday mornings focusing on the question Who Is Jesus? and looking at the Gospel of John to answer this question, several thoughts have come to mind.  (1) The question Who Is Jesus? is not a historical-type question.  Rather it is a question of faith.  However, the Gospels of Matthew, [...]

I have good news. I posted on CrossTalk and began receiving helpful comments this week. Richard Anderson sent me several helpful titles to look up include: (1) Gerbern Oegema The Anointed and His People: Messianic Expectations from Maccabees to Bar Kochba, (2) Sigmund Mowinckel He That Cometh, (3) William Oesterly The Evolution of [...]
