My name is David Ritsema and I am a student and a pastor. This website is a chronicle of my work on the study of the New Testament. I am studying the significance of Jesus in the Gospel of John. As a PhD student in New Testament and as a pastor, I work through the entire canon of the NT. I am an evangelical/Baptist pastor who believes in the core of evangelical faith (historical life, death, and resurrection of Jesus; salvation by faith, etc.). I aspire to one day become a member of the distinguished EHCC.

Hi there David
I’m getting in touch with folk who run New Testament or Biblical History blogs at the moment. I’m sure anyone who reads your blog, as well as yourself would be interested in my radio show webpage http://www.premier.org.uk/unbelievable where debates between leading Biblical scholars are often featured.
E.g. January is taken up with Ehrman debating Peter J Williams on Misquoting Jesus, then Debating Richard Swinburne on the Problem of suffering, and last week and this is Michael F Bird and James G Crossley debating their joint book “How did Christianity begin?”
You can listen back to the shows online, download the mp3 or subscribe to the podcast
If you would post a blog on it, I would be most grateful, and you may wish to add it to the selection of places to visit on your own blog
Thanks

Hey David,
Nick Norelli informed me about your blog. He said that you are doing doctoral work on the Fourth Gospel. He thought that you might be someone I could contact with questions regarding trends in the study of the Fourth Gospel. Do you have any advice?

David,
Where are you doing your doctoral study and what will your dissertation topic be? I, too, am very interested in the Fourth Gospel and did my doctoral work at Catholic University under Frank Moloney. I finished in 2007 and pastored my entire way through (2001 – 2009). I just left my church but, like you, did church, family, and Ph.D. studies at the same time. It was tough, but totally worth it.
Regards,
Chris Skinner
